Amicalola Falls State Park & Lodge

Jackie, the restaurant manager, turned around a breakfast that had started out a little unpleasant. She kept checking on us, made things right, and did extra to make my husband's birthday feel special. Cameryn, our waitress, brought a great sense of humor and looked after the whole family well. We left feeling valued, and had a wonderful Thanksgiving stay. We came to Amicalola Falls over Thanksgiving to celebrate my husband's birthday as a surprise. The mountain view from our lodging was lovely, and we really enjoyed the Thanksgiving buffet. Our room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the essentials were well stocked. We definitely plan to return to Amicalola Falls.

The Lodge staff were kind and very helpful, and we never had a bad meal at the restaurant. I stayed in January 2025 for work training, and was struck by how beautiful the park was. The meeting rooms were spacious and clean, with a great view to enjoy during breaks. It would be a great spot for a work event or a personal trip. Try to get out on some trails while you're there.

The location is ideal, but the old hotel needs to do much better on cleanliness. The sheets seemed clean, yet the mattress showed signs of previous guests' activities (see photos). If cleanliness matters a lot to you, I'd pick somewhere else. We were also assigned a room that already had someone in it when we arrived. At the restaurant, service took a long time. We waited 35 minutes after ordering, with fewer than 10 people there. There wasn't much variety on the menu, and everything was fried, typical Southern food.

The food was so good that every bite made you want to close your eyes. Jackie ran the Thanksgiving meal beautifully and checked that we were happy as we ate. She was kind and accommodating from my call to book a table through meeting her at the restaurant. She made the day feel special for our family. Thanks to her and the team for working so hard so we could enjoy Thanksgiving together.
