The staff were really friendly and helpful, and for the price, the room was a decent size and a good deal. Some parts had been updated, like the floors, while other areas looked run down. Maybe they’re working on it. The refrigerator was a little loud, but bearable once I turned its temperature down. Breakfast was basic, mostly coffee, muffins, and oatmeal, but that was about what I expected for the price. I had no issues during my brief stay. Later, I heard from what seemed like a reliable source that Orange County uses this specific hotel as a halfway house. I can’t say whether that’s true.
We stayed here again because we had to, not because we liked it any better the second time. This place is independent, not run by Extended Stays, and despite what it says online, they don’t provide breakfast. The coffee is lousy, there’s no creamer, and there isn’t even a coffee maker in the room. The hallways still smell awful. All night, the shower leaked loudly whenever people upstairs were using theirs, and I couldn’t sleep. The bed was terrible, and I woke up in pain. You get what you pay for, and I don’t expect this place to improve.
Disneyland is close by, but that was the only redeeming part of my stay. The room felt dated, and the parquet floor seemed oily and dirty. The bathroom faucet leaked, and there was no hot water for showers. The refrigerator also made so much noise all night that I couldn’t sleep properly. The website promised complimentary breakfast, but it was just a small table with a few muffins and some coffee. By the time I arrived, the coffee was empty. There was no safe in the room for valuables, and they hadn’t left any shampoo, so I had to ask the front desk for it. I had a terrible experience and can’t recommend the hotel. There are plenty of other places near Disneyland with better service and amenities.
The kitchen and full-size fridge were great, and it was nice to have laundry on site and a pet-friendly policy. The staff were mostly solid, the linens were clean, and I didn’t see any vermin. The place was clean overall, and I had no complaints. You get what you pay for. The Wi-Fi was almost useless, and “breakfast” was really just morning snacks. There’s no ice machine, so buy a bag before checking in or wait a couple of hours to make your own ice.
The room itself wasn’t awful, but it looked dated and a bit dull. For the rate we paid, the breakfast was disappointing, just a small table with a few items. The next day I noticed a little sign on the kitchen cabinet saying to call the front desk for utensils and other kitchen supplies. I wish they’d mentioned that when we checked in, and it annoyed me that they didn’t put the supplies in the room beforehand. We’d booked a kitchen to save money during our two-day wrestling tournament, but arrived at 8 p.m. to find we couldn’t cook or eat in, so we went out for dinner instead. The bigger issue was feeling unsafe. After dinner, we parked by the back entrance near our room and saw two cars surrounded by trash and boxes, with more rubbish inside. It looked like someone was living in a car and using the parking lot like an RV park. Since it was late, my daughter and I were nervous carrying our luggage between the car and room. The back door was supposed to need a room key, but it was broken and anyone could walk right in. Men were hanging around outside by the door with their trash, smoking cigarettes and using their iPhones. I was too afraid they’d see me taking pictures and hurt us. I think the hotel needs security to protect guests. The broken door is a serious safety problem and should be fixed right away. If the hotel can’t provide a safe place to stay, it shouldn’t charge guests. I wouldn’t return, even if they offered to pay me. We travel a lot for wrestling tournaments, and this room was only a little better than some we’ve had before, especially for what we paid. I’ve booked rooms with kitchens in the past, but this one didn’t have any of the supplies we needed. That made an already uncomfortable stay even more frustrating.
