The price felt reasonable by today's standards, and it was quiet with comfy beds and a good breakfast. The shower had weak pressure, and my room didn't have working heat, but I was still comfortable. I'd recommend it and stay again.

I was pretty happy with the stay until the morning we were leaving. Breakfast should have been available for another hour, but it hadn't been replenished. We were late and taking food with us, and the desk attendant was rude about it. He only let me take what my son would eat, so I got nothing. That treatment completely ruined the experience. I would have come back regularly, but now I'll look for a better place.

My daughter and wife asked at the front desk why the hot chocolate was gone from the coffee station. My daughter loves it, and it's one of the reasons she's been a fan of this hotel. The response was, “Oh, we haven't had hot chocolate for YEARS!” But we had it here in September, over the summer, at Easter, and last Christmas. Don't gaslight your customers, ever. This place was sold within the last six months. Kathy is gone, which is a shame because she held it together. I stay here ten to fifteen nights a year, and we were here over Christmas. The new management is terrible, and the property feels poorly run, with cost cutting above everything else. When we came in through the front, the smell of chlorine was so strong it nearly made us light headed. That kind of smell suggests the pool may recently have had a shock treatment to deal with something bad in the water. In my view, a well maintained pool shouldn't need that. It may happen when a pool has been ignored for weeks or more and then gets an inspector's visit. Eww.

I booked early in the morning, then called back to check whether they had my reservation. They didn't. I needed to check in early because my dog was having surgery at the Anamosa Vet Clinic, but the manager said no. They wouldn't make any accommodation at all. I'd give this place zero for customer service.
