Good for a quick overnight, with an airport shuttle, large room, and nice beds, though the edges squeaked a little. The staff were nice, and breakfast was tasty: boiled eggs, cereal, OJ, bagels, muffins, and yoghurt. If you're picky, you might mind the peeling paint around the baseboards or hair in the drain.

We chose it because it was near the airport, but that turned out to be a terrible idea. The rooms smelled really bad, there were huge bugs in the bathroom, and the toilet was blocked. I also found lots of dust on the windowsill, and the kitchen was disgusting. Breakfast wasn't great either, and there was nowhere to sit. I wouldn't book this hotel.

We stayed one night in mid-August, and the included continental breakfast, with hard-boiled eggs, was handy as we rushed to our next destination. It's a reasonably priced option near Anchorage Airport. We'd stayed here years ago, and it has become very outdated. Our well-equipped one-bedroom suite had a mini kitchen and full-size refrigerator, though arriving late meant we didn't use them. It was good enough for one night.

The working building entry key felt like a helpful security feature in the Spenard location, and being near the airport with a shuttle was convenient. The older property needs a major renovation, though, and the elevator wasn't working, so expect to carry your luggage upstairs. I was pleasantly surprised by the room layout: a private bedroom separate from the main space, a bathroom with a tub, and a full kitchen with a full-sized refrigerator and freezer, oven, and cook stove. The sliding balcony door was a nice touch.
