Comfort Suites Anchorage International Airport

I pass through Anchorage often and have tried a lot of places, but keep returning here. The building was remodeled a few years ago, and they've kept it looking spotless and almost new. Staff are consistently nice, and the free shuttle makes my monthly trips much easier. For a clean, well-run hotel that's good value, this is the one.

When I got home, I realized I'd left my glasses and some other things behind. I went back the next day, and they said nothing had been found. I filled out paperwork with my glasses, name, room number, and phone number, but haven't heard a thing. Calling hasn't helped. They keep putting me on hold and asking different questions each time, as if nobody's doing anything. After more than 20 minutes on hold, they answered like they didn't know who I was, then eventually hung up. I just want my glasses. I'm not even worried about my makeup bag now. It's frustrating, and I can't see well. The pool was also closed, even though it was one of the reasons we booked.

Anchorage locals, don't bother booking here. I live in town and reserved a room two weeks ahead for one night because we'd winterized our house that afternoon and had an early flight the next morning. At the front desk, the woman looked at my driver's license and asked if I lived in Anchorage. I said yes, and she told me, “We don't allow locals to stay with us, management policy.” Huh? Hotels all over the world offer local rates to encourage people to stay. In Hawaii they're called Kama'aina rates. Not this place. What kind of policy is that? There we were, tired, hungry, and left with nowhere to sleep. It was incredibly rude and inconsiderate. They're in the hospitality business, so how do you think they'll treat you if they treat their neighbors this way? Find another hotel.

The inn was peaceful, and the room was clean and comfortable. The customer service was excellent, with kind, friendly, and very helpful staff. Breakfast was okay, but the lady serving was excellent. I'd recommend the inn.
