Hyatt House Anchorage

We were upgraded to a larger room with a kitchen and sofa bed. It was spacious and clean, with a view of a small wetland where lots of birds flew around the hotel. Breakfast was fine, too. A good stay overall.

I booked a stay on 1/17/2026 to celebrate my son’s eighth birthday. His seventh birthday was at this hotel, so it meant a lot to our family. When I called to reserve, I was honest about the celebration and was told that holding it about a month early would be okay. Nobody said birthday gatherings were no longer allowed. There were six children in the room. At 3 pm, within half an hour of arriving, the front desk called about a noise complaint from downstairs. A manager then came to the door, followed by three more calls and another manager visit. The kids were walking, not running or shouting, but we were told to be extremely quiet. Only then were we told parties weren’t permitted. The decorations were already up and the children had arrived, so leaving wasn’t realistic. My son couldn’t properly enjoy or celebrate his birthday, which was especially upsetting because he’d spent his previous birthday here with his dad, who passed away on November 4. I was trying to make this birthday special and positive. I understand the need to respect other guests and hotel policies, but this could have been avoided if the policy had been clearly explained when I booked, especially since I’d been upfront about why we were staying. Rose deserves recognition for the kindness, professionalism, and empathy she showed us. She treated my family with respect and tried to calm a stressful situation. Her customer service made a real difference, and she’s an asset to the hotel. I’m sharing this in hopes the situation will be reviewed and an appropriate resolution considered. More than anything, I hope other families won’t face the same problem because of unclear or inconsistent communication.

Getting to and from the airport was easy, just one turn from the parking lot. I saw plenty of shuttle signs and saw the shuttle operating, though I didn’t use it myself. The room was fantastic, with plenty of space to sort our gear before heading inland. Everything worked, and the AC and shower both had strong pressure.

We stayed three days and two nights at the Hyatt House Anchorage, and I’m very disappointed. Housekeeping eventually came by, but only emptied the trash. The bathroom was never cleaned, and they didn’t refill the coffee. On the second morning, we had to go find our own coffee pods. The meals were a mess, too. The first night took an hour, and on the second night we waited more than three hours for two simple cheeseburgers. There was no update from staff and no urgency. For bar food, that wait is unacceptable. You’d be better off walking to a gas station for a sandwich. Between the dirty bathroom and those ridiculous food delays, this was a terrible stay.
