The building, roomy junior suite, and really good breakfast all have that old-school charm. We enjoyed our stay, and the place has a nice historic feel, though it's close to the line between quaint and musty. There are only basic amenities, and our room felt stuffy with no AC or window screens. It also had no view, as the photo shows. The odd part came at checkout. After spending more than $400, nobody asked how the stay was, wished us a good day, invited us back, or even said thanks. That felt like a strange gap for a hotel that leans on its charm.

The staff were warm and helpful, and they went out of their way to store our bags early on check-in day. They even called a taxi to the airport for us, which helped with all our luggage. Breakfast was free and had omelets, egg bites, two kinds of sausage, potatoes, pancakes, coffee, tea, and orange juice. We had a wonderful stay and highly recommend it. We chose the Historic Anchorage Hotel because we wanted to be near restaurants and take a break from chain hotels. Our two-bed suite was lovely, spacious, and full of charm. There were three of us.

We stayed here three times over ten days, and every time the staff remembered us and made an effort to know us personally. They're kind, helpful, and personable. It felt like going home, and the customer service deserves ten stars. The location is great for downtown places we like, and I enjoy that the hotel is small and cozy. Some rooms were smaller and looked onto the back wall, but they were all comfortable. Breakfast had decent choices. This hotel made our Anchorage stay, and I'd absolutely come back.

The rooms are spacious and charming, and the service is impeccable. Patricia deserves a shout-out. The location is spectacular, and I won't stay anywhere else in Anchorage.

We stayed two nights, first in a regular room and then in a suite. I'd recommend the suite. The historic feel is cool, but breakfast is pretty ordinary. Parking can be tricky, and the downtown location gets noisy.
