Jumping Frog Motel

I left after just 40 minutes because I didn’t feel safe staying there alone. There was a gap under the door where bugs or other critters could get in, the toilet seat wasn’t attached, and there were cigarette butts in the outdoor ashtrays. I was uncomfortable as soon as I entered the room. I called over the next few days to ask for a refund and was told, “the boss didn’t show up today.” On my last call, they said I’d stayed too long to qualify. Nobody even asked why I’d left or wanted a refund. They don’t care.

The room was pretty clean, if somewhat run down, and the heater warmed it quickly. The toilet would sometimes refill with a loud noise, the shower pressure was very low, and the plastic covers under the pillowcases made the pillows crinkle loudly. WiFi started at 35Mbps, then fell to 3Mbps after 15 minutes. Fine for the low rate.

The courtyard was charming, and management were discreet, polite and helpful. We were in town for a concert at Ironstone and stayed at The Jumping Frog Motel. Our room was clean, functional and accommodating. The shower was amazing, and the bed so comfortable I slept until 10! Angel’s Camp is always a nice visit, with that laid-back California small-town comfort. We’ll come back when we’re in the area again.

We booked the jumping frog for a wedding in Murphy's and paid almost half what the other hotels cost. It’s definitely no-frills and outdated throughout, but it’s not bad if all you need is a clean room for one night. For the price, it was fine.
