Americas Best Value Inn Angleton

It was peaceful and quiet at night, and the location worked well. The hotel has potential, but it needs renovation and some care. The showerhead was really gross, with stuff growing on it, and pretty much everything could use a makeover or replacement.

We only needed somewhere to sleep after visiting family nearby, since the night ran later than expected. This place was three streets from their house, but it was awful. We asked for a downstairs non-smoking room and were told there weren’t any, only a downstairs smoking room. It was very late, so we agreed. As soon as we turned on the light, roaches were crawling over the bed. I showed the photo to the clerk at the desk, and she just stared blankly. When I asked to switch, she said the only other option was a double-bed room. We took it, but it wasn’t any better. One bed had filthy sheets; the other was cleaner, though still not completely clean. There was orange stuff on the towels, so thankfully we had brought our own, and red spots outside the shower. We slept for three hours and left before daylight. Horrible.

We paid for two rooms and didn’t get breakfast, with the doors locked again when we tried. It felt like nobody actually worked there, and doors were locked all over. The beds were uncomfortable and needed clean sheets and pillowcases. There was no soap in the bathrooms. We were told to unplug and reconnect the TV, but there was no service connection at all. Hopefully they can use some insurance money to upgrade this place, because it’s a national disaster.

The place was awful. We couldn’t get the continental breakfast at 8 a.m. because the lobby doors were locked. The beds were very hard, and the tubs didn’t look clean, though they were okay. Our cable wasn’t working because of air card issues. I called to complain and was told to unplug it for ten seconds and plug it back in, but it still didn’t work. The phone in the room was out too, so I had to look up the lobby number and call from my cell.
