American Inn

We booked a week but left after one day because there were bugs everywhere. Stink bugs were all over the room, with tiny roaches near the fridge and bed. Worst of all, my partner ended up with hives all over his body from the bed bugs. It was one of the worst stays we’ve had, and we won’t return or recommend it. We did get part of our money back.

My friends had picked this hotel because it looked affordable and the rooms seemed okay online. At check-in, an older man at the desk appeared drunk and was hard to understand. He had to call the owner to find their reservation. Once we finally got the keys, the room was worse than the Ramada down the street and smelled awful. There was no fridge in sight, so I asked at the desk. The man showed me one hidden in a dresser, and when he opened it, it was full of dead roaches. Disgusting. I felt bad for my friends, especially since they wouldn’t refund them. At 9 the next morning, the same man knocked on their door like the police and asked how many nights they had paid for. He spoke poor English, and my friends didn’t speak any, so they called me. When I came over to ask what was happening, he started screaming, threatened to call the police, and did call them. The owner came and told him to leave them alone. But the next morning he was back, asking my friends to do him a favor and buy him beers. SMH. What kind of hotel is this? Definitely a bad deal.

The woman who checked us in in the middle of the night was pleasant enough. We’d been driving all day and were about to fall asleep, otherwise we would’ve left. We slept on top of the bed in our onesie pajamas, then changed out of them as soon as we woke up and left right away. The room smelled horrid. The fridge was broken and full of mildew, there was a dead fly on the table, and empty water bottles were left around. There were also lines of what I assume was borax to keep bugs away. It all made the lack of cleaning pretty obvious. Unless you’re desperate for a long-term place to stay, I’d recommend going anywhere else.

The room was falling apart, and stains covered the carpet, chairs, walls, and ceiling. There was mold all over the bathtub, the shower kept going from very hot to very cold, and the sink was clogged with buildup from who knows how many guests. I brought a sleeping bag, which turned out to be lucky since I didn’t trust the bed after reading other reviews about bed bugs. I’ll never stay here again. Hope this saves someone time and money. I wouldn’t let my dog stay here.
