AC Hotel Ann Arbor Downtown

The cocktail bar and restaurant really set this newly opened hotel apart. The bartenders, Casey and Ian, as I recall, were excellent and very professional. The drink program is top notch, among the best in a city that needs more good places to grab a few drinks. Conversation and a welcoming vibe made the experience stand out. The hotel itself is already running well and feels like much more than somewhere to sleep.

The lobby works well for a casual meeting or a drink with friends, and there are plenty of good restaurants an easy walk away. I’m in Ann Arbor regularly and have struggled to find a downtown hotel I look forward to staying at. This new AC Hotel finally does it for me. The rooms are clean and thoughtfully designed without trying too hard, and the staff are genuinely friendly. The bar surprised me, too. Whoever puts together the bourbon list knows their stuff. This is my new favorite hotel in Ann Arbor, and I’ll be back.

I can’t speak to staying at the hotel, though it looked nice and clean. The AC Lounge Bar was fantastic. Casey and Ian were friendly, knew their drinks, and gave spot-on recommendations. We ordered Smokey Old Fashioned’s, which were excellent, along with a generous serving of patatas and aioli. The hummus was beautifully seasoned, with just the right amount of lemon and oil.

We had a lot of fun and will be back. The hotel had only just opened, so it felt sparkling new and welcoming, and it was quiet. I’m mostly writing about the bar team, Casey and Ian, and would recommend stopping in even if you aren’t staying there. The drinks were amazing, even for me, since I don’t usually enjoy drinking much. We chatted about national competitions Casey had entered as a professional bartender and the team’s hard work getting ready for the grand opening. The conversation was hilarious, and the bar felt like a comfortable haven during a stressful time. They were clearly glad to see us and quickly felt like part of our friend group.
