Super 8 Anna

I’ve never stayed in a worse hotel. Roaches showed up while I was sitting there, and when I asked about spraying, the woman working brought me poison and I had to treat the room myself. The tub was still full of the previous guest’s hair when I checked in, and the floors hadn’t been cleaned or vacuumed. I had to ask for light bulbs and was told they could find some for the office, but not the guest rooms. They eventually took bulbs from other rooms. There wasn’t a chair either, so I had to ask for one. The only reason I gave it one star is that I couldn’t give less. Stay away.

Marcia at the front desk was friendly and went out of her way to find us a room late at night on a holiday, even though we had no reservation. The price was reasonable, and the place was very clean. I checked for bedbugs and the mattress looked clean, like new. Breakfast was fresh and served in a nice-looking room, though there wasn’t a big selection and nothing suited a low-carb diet. There were quite a few maintenance issues, but they were all minor. I didn’t get a good look at the pool or exercise room.

We arrived at 2 a.m. after traveling, and at 9 a.m. the housekeeper was knocking to ask if we were still there. A couple nights earlier, another Super 8 served breakfast and did its best to accommodate us. This one was the complete opposite and provided nothing. The rooms also need a thorough cleaning and a long overdue update. If you’re after that sort of atmosphere, don’t come here.

The first room hadn’t been cleaned properly, but they moved me to another one right away. It’s a quiet, no-frills hotel that was nicer than I expected. There’s an indoor pool, though I was alone and didn’t use it, and breakfast is basic. For the price, it was worth it.
