Historic Inns of Annapolis

Roaches in our first room meant we were moved to a smaller one, where the toilet made a screaming noise every time it flushed. The so-called “Rain Fall Shower” on the website was a lie, and the bed blocked access to the mini fridge. We spent an exorbitant amount for our wedding anniversary weekend, and this was pathetic. I get that it's an old building, but for what we paid, including hidden fees that showed up on our account this morning, I expected competent service. We've tried several times to reach a manager, but were told nobody was available. They promised an email twice, and we called three times to remind them. Still no email or manager call. We contacted both the general manager and front desk, with no result. Don't stay here.

I had an early flight and was relying on the valet. They never brought my car keys down, and the front desk manager couldn't get into the key box, so I couldn't retrieve the car and missed my flight. This was completely avoidable and shows a serious failure in basic operations and accountability. I wouldn't recommend staying here if you have time-sensitive travel.

The hotel's in a great location and has been nice and consistent in quality over the 20 years we've been coming. The valet staff are lovely, but the new $50 nightly charge is just unreasonable. Parking in the area is a nightmare, I understand, but the hotel seems to be taking advantage of that. They had a chance to act fairly toward guests and chose not to. We'd be better off parking in a garage and walking, and we won't use the valet going forward.

We love the room layout and the history of the Robert Johnson house. The staff have been amazing, and the rooms are perfect. There are three hotels to choose from, but whichever you stay in, expect to valet because parking around each one is limited. It's close to everything in downtown Annapolis, and I highly recommend staying here.
