Hampton Inn Phoenix/Anthem

I was grateful to have such kind, professional help while juggling two family members with the flu, my mother’s funeral, and flight changes. The breakfast staff helped me take food to my sick family, and the front desk worked with all our rescheduling. Housekeeping was sympathetic too, helping with trash and blankets and offering kind words. The location worked perfectly for us, so we’ll be back. Thanks, and happy new year, even though I missed Christmas.

The breakfast was mediocre at best. There were scrambled eggs, pork sausages, fried potatoes, toast, bagels, a few pastries that looked days old, oranges, and two kinds of yogurt. Coffee was good, but the juices were watery and almost tasteless. The building needs a lot of care: hall carpets look faded, there’s a musty smell throughout, the room carpet had spots, and the lighting in the room was dim. The bathroom felt cramped. The room itself was large, with thermostat controlled A/C and heat, a good sized desk, and an adjustable chair that left your chin barely above the desk at its highest setting. The bed was semisoft but comfortable. There’s a strip mall with a couple of restaurants nearby. The hotel is about 20 miles north of Pheonix, just off I-17 and easy to find, though you have to cross a busy highway without a traffic light to get there. Staff were efficient but not friendly. This is perhaps the worst Hampton Inn we’ve stayed at, and it doesn’t meet the brand standard. Most reviews I’ve read for this hotel seem bogus. We hosted everyone coming in for our son’s wedding for more than three days, and the staff made the whole group feel taken care of. Jim, Lynn & Lexi went above and beyond, helping with everything we needed. They added conference rooms so our group could gather without disturbing other guests, and divided a room so the bride and girls had a lovely place to get ready. The team was organized, professional, and so friendly that we knew most of them by first name before leaving. Thank YOU EVERYONE @ Hampton Inn, Anthem, AZ. The bed cover had a brown stain and wasn’t clean, so we lifted it onto the table. There was no microwave, and the bathroom smelled awful. We won’t be coming back with my disabled veteran spouse and her Emotional Support Animal. The front desk staff were rude and tyrannical. Don’t ask a question or request help, they won’t help and will belittle you. What an unpleasant experience, I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. I feel like management doesn’t care, since the same rude people are still at the front desk as in earlier visits. I asked if someone could look at the bathroom smell, and the clerk bluntly cut me off before I’d finished, saying, “NO! There is no one! I can not help I am alone!” She did offer another room on an upper level, but it wasn’t a disabled room, which was what we had asked for in the first place. Saying no can be done politely, without being rude or tyrannical. It’s good that management responds to complaints, but there’s been no action to make visits better for people with disabilities or their Emotional support animal. Nothing has changed. The same rude staff are at the front desk year after year. Why? Are you married to them? Or are they part of the ownership? There’s an old saying, something like, if you don’t have anything good to say, don’t say anything. So I don’t have anything to say. It’s all been said so many times in the comments already. We’re among those who won’t return.
