We arrived around midnight after our wedding, and the owner was completely fine with the late check-in. Fresh baked treats were waiting for us, and the room had a fireplace, whirlpool, and a really comfortable bed. Breakfast the next morning was the best I’ve had: an omelette in a mug that my husband loved, apple crisp, yogurt with strawberries, waffles, and orange juice. There was so much good food that it was the highlight of our stay, and we even ate breakfast in the whirlpool before checking out. The Roost was perfect for us. We’re already looking forward to coming back for our first anniversary.

We were spoiled here in the best way. Our Bella suite had a stone fireplace, relaxing music through surround sound, a great jacuzzi tub, and the most comfortable bed. There were also candles, bubble bath, free popcorn and candy, plus Keurig coffee makers in the room and lobby. Breakfast came right to our room, with amazing baked French toast and meatless patties for me as a vegetarian. We wanted to eat every bite, but there was too much. The owner was so welcoming, even offering us a drink when we arrived. We’d spent the day going between family gatherings for Thanksgiving and were blown away by this place. It’s close to town, but tucked into a lovely wooded neighborhood that was completely quiet. We’re making this a yearly tradition. If you need a retreat, I can’t recommend it enough.

De Ann made us feel welcome with homemade treats and wonderful breakfasts throughout our three-night visit. We came together with the bride and bridesmaids for two nights before our daughter’s wedding, and the house and its amenities made a lovely setting for the weekend. The gardens and fountains were a delight, and we’ll always remember our time there. It’s near downtown and the riverside venue, yet the neighborhood was quiet enough for us to relax and enjoy each other’s company. We’ll be back soon. The Roost was exceptional in every way. Stayed June 2016, traveled with family

Breakfast was great each morning, and she accommodated my girlfriend’s dietary restrictions. There’s also a complimentary coffee maker, handy for a quick cup any time. Still, we felt like an afterthought during our stay. DeAnn seemed warm and friendly with the other guests, but we didn’t get that same welcome. Maybe she was just having an off day when we arrived. I’d recommend the place, though I’d avoid the Meadow Suite. That room was only okay, and we expected a bit more even allowing for the pictures. The TV was an old box set, and the DVD player didn’t work. The other rooms looked much nicer, so I’m not sure why ours was so lacking for the price. This was our first B&B, and nobody explained the policies or what was expected of us, which left us confused. The room was hard to regulate in winter: too hot at night, then freezing by morning after we cracked the window. On our last day, we waited 20 minutes in the usual breakfast spot before being told breakfast was elsewhere.

Late check-in was no problem for De Ann, and she even left fresh cookies for us. The room felt cozy, and we enjoyed the jacuzzi. Breakfast was tasty too. We had a lovely stay at the Roost and would recommend it to anyone.
