Longacre of Appomattox

We stayed one night in the Maple room while visiting the Appomattox area. It was quiet and spacious, and the building itself is beautiful. The team running the place were amazing, and we really enjoyed the tea and breakfast in the morning. I'd stay here again if I'm back in the area.

The house is lovely and centrally located, and its main rooms are invitingly decorated. But the attic suite we got didn't resemble the photos on this site, and the access and bathroom made the stay difficult enough that we left after one night instead of staying for both nights we booked. Getting upstairs means using a spiral staircase tucked into a back nook. It's narrow and ladder-like, so it won't work for anyone with trouble climbing a ladder. Then there's a deep step into the bedroom. My husband and I had to hold onto the door frame to get in and out, which was miserable for older people needing a bathroom trip at night. The bathroom is spacious but outside the bedroom, and has only a garden tub with a shower attachment, no curtain. You have to climb into the tub and sit down to shower, which we couldn't manage. The bedroom itself was nice, but had just one queen bed and a sofa bed. The photos made the B&B look lovely, with a welcoming, spacious bedroom, a large bed, two twin beds, and cheerful paint. We knew there could be ordinary stairs and a typical bathroom setup. Please update the photos so people know what they're booking, especially by showing the spiral staircase.

A charming little inn, easy to find and close to the historic sites. There's plenty of character and comfortable spots to sit. Breakfast is basic but tasty. I'd have liked more low-carb choices, though there are lots of hard-boiled eggs.

We had the Maisonette room, which worked perfectly as a family room. The service was excellent, and the room was just right.
