We used to stay here whenever we visited, but the rooms need serious cleaning and updating. The rooms we’d reserved weren’t available, and the replacements were filthy: a dirty, broken chair, crumbling carpet and walls, and a ceiling coming apart. The bathroom door was broken, the toilet flushed slowly, there was no coffee maker, and the outlets had burn marks. A bag was stuffed into the bathroom sprinkler. We would have left, but couldn’t find anywhere else to stay. We’ll never stay again.
This was easily the worst La Quinta Inn we’ve stayed at. We were in Chicago with our dogs and had fewer options, though we’ve stayed at other La Quinta inns without problems. When I booked, no one mentioned the $20 per dog, per night fee, even though we always call ahead to confirm when bringing dogs. We could understand a cleaning fee, but the first room was nasty. The bed was the only safe spot; the carpet looked and smelled like a roach motel. When we asked for another room, the clerk seemed focused only on whether we’d unmade the bed, as if just returning it to available mattered. The second room was a little better because the carpet didn’t smell bad, but it was still filthy, with a lounge chair covered in questionable stains. We planned to stay two nights but, exhausted, stayed the first night and left the next day. We complained directly to La Quinta and got an apology from the manager a few days later, but the promise to “do better” felt empty. I should have sought a refund through my travel card, though it’s been a while. Other customers, beware.
The room smelled musty and stuffy when we arrived, and our key needed resetting every day. Nothing looked welcoming. The tub was peeling and discolored, the sheets had fuzz balls and didn’t look clean, and the lounge chair looked like it came from a trash pile. The room didn’t resemble the photos on the website. I wouldn’t recommend this place or stay here again.
This is really just somewhere to sleep before heading to the airport, not a nice or romantic getaway. My room was clean enough, and the airport shuttle was reliable when I called ahead and reserved a time. The drivers were very friendly. The other guests felt questionable, though. One person I rode with on the shuttle described the place well: it felt like a homeless shelter.
We paid $200 for a dirty room with a smoke and drug smell, gross carpet, and barely working lights. When we politely asked about compensation, the staff got angry, weren’t helpful, and nearly laughed at us. Don’t stay here if you have any other choice. We had booked for four adults, with two queen beds specified, but the first room had two very small beds, maybe doubles, more like twins. The front desk sent us to another room, which was occupied, and it had the same size beds anyway. Then we were told to use a king suite with a couch, but there was only a chair, so we squeezed into two small twin beds. The people around the property seemed very shady. We were traveling and couldn’t make calls. The booking didn’t explain how the shuttle worked, and I tried every way I could to reach the hotel days before we needed it but got no response. After waiting 1.5 hours at the pickup, a family member called and found out the shuttle had to be booked. Other airport hotels ran every 15-30 minutes. That was a terrible start.
