Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham Arlington Near Six Flags

Thank Jesus for leading me to this hotel. The overnight price was excellent, the room was very clean, and the hot water and pressure were great. Everyone was courteous. Pal at the front desk was amazing: she helped me download Uber on my phone and got me a ride so I could pick up a car. Her coworker was kind enough to help me make the technical changes I needed on my cellphone too. I’d recommend this hotel and stay here again on my next visit to Arlington, which will be at the end of the month. Blessings.

The room was uncomfortable, and I’m not usually fussy about hotels. The tile looked like it hadn’t been mopped, the toilet leaked and loudly refilled every so often, and the beds aren’t queen size, so don’t expect four people to fit. The AC did work well. There were lots of people smoking pot when you pull in. Breakfast was just a bag with an orange, granola bar, and Capri Sun, so it hardly counts. Service was terrible, and you can’t leave your car here for the games.

For our Six Flags trip, it worked well enough as a place to sleep, and we didn’t see any bugs. The suite was clean enough, cheap, and clearly outdated. The sofa bed was so bad I had to get an air mattress for my daughter. When I pulled up, Cholo Joe was in a back room staring us down, but he didn’t want this smoke. He was probably selling whatever out of that room. It is what it is.

I booked a room from the parking lot and went straight inside to check in. The front desk man asked for my ID, then refused because the booking was under Bobby, even though my name is Robert and I’ve always gone by Bobby. My phone filled in Bobby automatically. He told me to change it through the booking site so it would match my ID. It was Saturday night, and I couldn’t reach anyone at the big booking company. I changed my name in their system, but the check-in name didn’t update. I showed him my receipt, confirmation email, and everything proving I’d paid, but he still said policy wouldn’t allow it and wouldn’t let me in. I asked for a manager, but he said he was the only person we could speak to. We could email the manager and wait for a reply, he said. He wouldn’t help or let us talk to anyone else, so we had to find another hotel at the last minute. The booking was nonrefundable, and I’ve never had trouble with that before, but since the man at the desk was the reason I couldn’t check in despite showing proof it was my room, I expected a refund. I never got one. I won’t go back. The staff here are terrible, especially the man at reception. I understand there are rules, but common sense matters too.
