The Gramercy’s first-floor public area was recently renovated and feels cozy but stylish, with a nice place to meet friends or grab complimentary coffee. There’s also a movie theatre, and management regularly puts on events that help build a lively community. Residents are friendly, and the concierge team is accommodating and helpful, especially Danielle. I moved to the US from another country in October 2023, and The Gramercy has been my home ever since. I first moved into a furnished apartment managed by BlueGround, then decided to stay in the building on a long-term lease. Its location made settling in easy, with Pentagon City Metro Station, Costco, Whole Foods, Pentagon City malls, and parks including The Metropolitan Park and Virginia Highlands Park close by. I’ve enjoyed living here over the past five months. My 2b2b apartment is spacious and has a sizable balcony. Large windows bring in lots of natural light, and the wooden floors are easy to clean. The appliances and indoor facilities aren’t new, but they’re well maintained and work properly. When something needed attention, maintenance responded promptly and communicated well. I’d happily recommend The Gramercy as a place to call home.

Noise is the biggest downside for me. The building, which I believe was renovated in 2021-2022, is older, and louder than my previous two, newer apartments. Facing Met Park means regular leaf blowers for about 30 minutes during work hours nearly every weekday, even in winter, along with backup beepers, food truck generators, and loud music or movie audio from park events. The windows barely block it, so it can sound like it’s happening in your unit. Building construction can also sound like it’s inside the walls, floors, and ceilings. In winter, shoveling snow and ice off the sidewalks can wake you in the early morning with scraping that sounds right inside your unit. It’s not mainly parties or noisy neighbors. There are a few practical drawbacks too. The call box won’t let guests call you from the foyer or let you unlock the door remotely, unlike the systems in my previous buildings. You have to use Fetch and pay its $25 monthly fee even if you don’t use it. The rent increase was in the teens, which felt high for an older building, especially with so many newer, more modern apartments opening nearby. On the positive side, management is responsive, thoughtful, and helpful. The work culture seems healthy, and staff seem happy and supported. Maintenance is helpful and responsive too. Most concierge staff are friendly, and Danielle in particular is kind and goes out of her way to help. When a package went missing, she helped me track it down while some other concierge staff seemed not to care. She makes The Gramercy feel welcoming and like home. She’s been around long enough to know the building well, watches over it, and makes me feel more secure because she seems to care about residents. I value having someone dependable, especially after living in a building where concierge staff kept changing before you could build a relationship.

A tenant in unit 1513 has large dogs that are not kept on a leash. Last month, they ran and jumped on me unexpectedly inside the building. I’m pregnant, and I immediately covered my belly because the dogs were large and jumped up to my waist and thigh. I was shaking, but still politely asked management to remind the tenant to leash them and follow the law and basic common sense. The security camera recorded what happened. The dog owner didn’t say anything during the incident. He slowly took the dogs back and walked away. We rent through Blueground, and management coldly told me that because we don’t lease directly through them, we’d have to follow up with the third party and they couldn’t do anything at that moment. I was disappointed. The building should keep its common areas safe for tenants, guests, staff, and delivery workers, regardless of who rents through whom. Update: I tried calling the number Carlos left below a few times, but he wasn’t available. I left my number twice with different people who answered, and I haven’t heard back in the last two weeks.

I’m grateful to call The Gramercy home. It’s well kept, safe, and lively, and has a warm, supportive community. The staff are friendly and attentive, and their kindness makes a real difference in day-to-day life here. I also want to thank Danielle at the front desk for the way she helped me get rid of an office chair. She found a thoughtful solution and connected it with someone who needed it, instead of just pointing me somewhere else. What could’ve been a stressful chore worked out perfectly because she cared enough to step in. When I offered a tip, she genuinely declined. Her help came across as professional, generous, and heartfelt. Danielle, thank you for your warmth, patience, and sincerity. You made a difference for me. People like you make The Gramercy feel like a community I’m proud to call home.
