Arroyo Village Inn

The owner seemed nice, and the outside looked better than some places I've seen. Inside, though, things felt dated. The bathroom and sink area could use some paint, and the AC was okay but didn't seem to work as well as it should. The cable TV had no Netflix, Hulu, or other extras. The blanket I pulled down was soft, but it smelled used rather than washed with detergent. There were only two small shampoo bottles and no conditioner. The bar soap left a slimy residue wherever I used it. I also felt uneasy because the door had no top latch for extra security, especially given the surrounding area.

Very clean and conveniently right off the 101 freeway in Arroyo Grande. The staff were friendly, and the prices were reasonable, though higher on Fridays and Saturdays. Several excellent places to eat are within walking distance.

We were close to the main tourist area, with several dining options only a five minute walk away and a small market nearby in case we'd forgotten anything at home. The location was great, and I'd stay here again. Our room had two queen beds, a TV, dresser, desk, and a small single sink in the main area. With four of us, that sink and mirror became a bottleneck each morning. The bathroom had a toilet, a shower and tub combo, plus a fan and windows for ventilation. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and anything we asked for was provided.

The front desk was welcoming and not rude at all, and we enjoyed our stay enough to plan on coming back. The room was clean, had no bad smell, and the beds were comfortable. My husband is very picky about places to stay, but we were both pleasantly surprised. The room looked completely different from one someone had posted in a review, so the rooms must have been updated. I especially appreciated the plush blankets. I usually bring my own because I don't like hotel blankets, and I forgot mine this time. The one issue was that our toddlers, ages two and one, could open the door even when we had locked it.
