The quiet breakfast overlooking the grounds was such a treat. Maguire House B&B is full of history and culture, and the room was great. Terry was lovely to deal with, checking in a few days before we arrived about our timing and whether we needed anything. She also asked when we wanted breakfast so it could be ready warm and on time. Delicious food and excellent service. Would happily recommend it.

We went to Maguire House for my mom’s birthday, and I’d love to come back with my husband for a romantic weekend. Terri and Paul were kind, caring hosts and really enjoyable to get to know. Terry made delicious food to order, with plenty of baked goods, and there was lots to drink, including wine and local beer. The downstairs lounge spots were really relaxing, too. The setting is beautiful, with mist rising from the mountains, the reservoir behind the house, and a lovely path down to the water. The back rooms look out over the fountain, lake, and surrounding forest, with so much foliage that it feels like the only house out there. Inside, it’s a historical home, immaculately clean, with intriguing decor. Some walls have local scenes, and rooms like the Rose Room are decorated to match their names.

I really needed a getaway, and this place helped me feel peaceful again. The views are breathtaking, the grounds are beautifully kept, and the owners are warm. Fantastic rooms and a high standard throughout, plus an excellent breakfast. Thanks again, Terry and Paul. We’ll be back!

Terry made breakfast feel personal, timing it so each guest got her attention. Everything was homemade and delicious, with a different menu each day: cranberry toast with eggs and bacon one morning, then maple blueberry scones with quiche the next. I also enjoyed playing a few tunes on the old upright piano. It was a little out of tune, but still sounded nice. We stayed in the Wysteria room, the nicest of the three, with a window that took up nearly the whole wall and looked out to the lake. My wife and I liked sitting at the little table in the room and taking in the view. The second-floor ceiling is low, so be aware if you’re tall. At 6'0", I was only a couple of inches below it, and Terry says that’s because the house dates to 1750. The three shared spaces downstairs, the living room with fireplace, breakfast area, and TV/relaxation room, felt welcoming and relaxing. There was something interesting in every nook and corner, but it still felt elegant rather than crowded. We only saw the other guests now and then, which I imagine is probably typical. We left feeling much more relaxed and loved our stay. We hope to return when it’s warmer. We’re a couple in our early 60s, and stayed October 31 - November 2, 2025. Maguire House B&B is a mile or two outside Ashburnham, about an hour’s drive from Worcester airport. The white New England house and its pretty grounds, with a lake behind it, look just like the pictures. Terry greeted us warmly at around 6:30 pm and was helpful throughout, including answering all our questions about the area.

The lake views toward Mt Monadnock are beautiful, and Terry and Paul are gracious innkeepers. Our room was quaint and breakfast superb. Such a lovely B&B. Wish we’d found this gem sooner, and hope we can return soon. Bill & Susan
