Value Inn Asheboro

I was in room 122 in September 2013, and the outside was just as disgusting as the room. Dirt had built up all over the stairs and floor, and it looked like they were cleaning with filthy mops and rags. In the bathroom there were hairs in the toilet, stains on the floor, walls, and door, and a dirty curtain. Even the shower dispenser was set so low that it only came up to my chest, and I'm 5'11". The reviews were right, this is a horrible motel.

We called Expedia after the second room we were given turned out to be a complete mess, already lived in, with bottles, clothes everywhere, and unmade beds. That had happened twice, and although the hotel refused a refund, Expedia overrode that and booked us at the Comfort Inn with credit. The extra $50 was well worth it, and the kids got into the zoo for free. We were there with my husband and two children, so seeing what looked like a drug deal and a prostitute making her rounds was alarming, especially with our car parked where we couldn't see it. I complained, and the first room change seemed okay at first. The online photos were VERY deceiving, though. I knew it was only $49 a night and didn't expect a fancy hotel, but I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, not even a stray dog.

The only good parts of my stay at Value Inn were a clean room and a nice woman at the desk. The bed felt like a brick, the grounds looked neglected, the pool was green, and people were walking around drinking outside. I couldn't get hot water in either room, even after I asked to move. The desk staff still hadn't heard back from the owner, so they couldn't help. The free Wi-Fi didn't work either, and when I called about the router, the desk attendant didn't know how to reset it and said she'd tell the owner. I asked for a refund so I could leave, but since I'd booked online, they said I had to go through the booking company. I canceled the next night and got that money back, but I'm still trying to recover the first night's cost. I went down the street to Randolph inn instead. It was about $10 more per night, with around $5 off per night for multiple nights, and it seemed safer with a more comfortable bed. The motel looked abandoned at first, though the desk attendant was very nice when I checked in.

Just nasty all around.
