Beaufort House Inn

We stayed two nights in Dogwood Cottage in October, 2025, and wouldn’t recommend Beaufort House. It seems to have seen better days, and the property overall felt somewhat rundown. The bed was comfortable, but the bathroom was cramped, with a small pedestal sink and no counter space. The shower is in the bedroom. There are wall plugs but no USB outlets. Breakfast was limited and had a Holiday Inn-like presentation. For the price, I think you can find much better.

We came here for our 20th anniversary this year. The room was charming and very clean, and we had a fantastic stay in the house. I’d stay here again.

We were extremely disappointed. We booked what we thought was a bed and breakfast, only to learn after paying that they no longer serve breakfast, just bagels. The whole reason we chose a B&B was for breakfast, and the website and Google had no notice of the change. Reviews still talked about a fabulous breakfast, so we arrived expecting one. We had also requested a hot breakfast without eggs when booking, and got a confirmation saying they’d accommodate it at no extra charge. Before booking, I called to ask about a same-day room, but got voicemail and no call back. I tried to book through the B&B directly, saw they were down to one room, and needed somewhere to stay, so I booked online. With no phone response, I ended up being routed to booking.com, which overcharged us by about 50.00. When I asked the innkeeper about it on arrival, she said nothing could be done and dismissed the concern. That’s frustrating, since I’d called specifically to avoid confusion. She greeted us and then told us there was no breakfast. This was our first kid-free getaway in years, for our anniversary, and we only had one night. We were so disappointed that we checked out early to find food because my blood sugar was dropping without proper food options. We chose the only bed and breakfast in Asheville without an actual breakfast. Other B&Bs in the area have given us great experiences. I definitely don’t recommend this place.

Dogwood Cottage was snug, clean, quiet, and had plenty of plugs and strong wifi. The main house was warm in both appearance and feel, and everything was in prime condition. I suspect they’re running with a bare minimum of staff, but you wouldn’t know from the cottage or the house. Beaufort House is a venerable place that doesn’t try to show off, it just makes you feel at home. Hats off to Sarah and Amber for a comforting, fulfilling stay.
