Budget Motel

The woman who checked us in suggested places to eat and have fun that night, which was helpful. Good room, fair price, convenient location. Really a great stay, nothing bad to say.

For a one-night stop, it had everything we needed and was clean. The mini fridge was cold and the microwave warmed things up well. The TV selection was limited and there wasn't a guide, so it was hard to tell what was on. Parking and road noise were tiny annoyances. You can hear the highway nearby, but with the TV on or talking to people, it mostly fades into the background.

We spent time on the balcony watching little gophers play by the stream out front, and the area felt safe. Most of the other guests seemed to be younger travelers or woodsmen on hiking trips. It's convenient, too, with everywhere we needed to go no more than a 12-15 minute drive. The owners and employees clearly care about the place. The rooms had new furniture, tile, and finishings, with lots of space and thoughtful design. It was reasonably clean for an inn. A few small details may have been missed, but nothing that caused a problem. I'd stay here again if I return to Asheville.

I was glad the hotel worked out well, even after reading some of the reviews. The staff were friendly and ready to help, and I felt comfortable returning to my room after days in the mountains. The location made it easy to get to both downtown and the mountains. I had everything I needed for my 4-day hiking vacation and a great time. I'd stay here again.
