The bed, bathroom, and floor were clean, and service was fine. He let me check in early. It looks like renovations are underway, and the outside would probably look nicer in warm weather. For the quality, I wish I'd paid under $ 100. Still, a great motel.

I was surprised by how the room looked after reading the reviews. I know the property is being renovated, but ours seemed either not to have been updated or to have taken a beating since the work. There were stains, peeling and mismatched paint, a loose toilet seat, and built-in bathroom soap dispensers that needed cleaning. We found 5 stinkbugs, the pillows were mini-sized, and some furniture was broken.

The king bed was very comfortable, and the shower was terrific. The room was bright, nice, and spacious, with lovely furnishings and a huge sliding glass door opening onto a pretty patio. It was gloomy out, so I couldn't really enjoy the patio. Breakfast was adequate, with make-your-own waffles from batter. If you want eggs, McDonald's is right across the street. Both managers I met were friendly and helpful, and I liked the place enough to book a second night. For the money, it's a lovely little hotel. I'd considered the much larger, more glamorous, more central Hotel Indigo, which was around $120 on a weekday. On the weekend, the whole end of the Hotel Indigo is more than double that, while I got this one on hotels.com for $111.

The hotel's ad and our room felt like complete opposites, even though I knew the place was “under renovation.” At check-in, the main/“after hour” number was disconnected. The guy running the hotel seemed surprised, but it was still disconnected two days later. The room was “clean” in the sense that there was no trash. We counted 26 patched holes in the ceiling. The shower had just one temperature, almost scalding. One pump of the body wash sent it pouring onto the tub floor, nearly 1/3 of the contents. WiFi didn't reach my room, 223, so we had to go outside to the middle of the courtyard for a signal. The cheap metal bed frame made a strange noise on one side whenever my wife rolled over or got up, like someone kicking it. I read another review just before checkout that called the place “Lipstick on a Pig.” That summed up our stay exactly.

When I checked out, the front desk manager yelled at a guest who said they felt unsafe. Homeless people were fighting in the parking lot just outside the door, and there was no deadbolt. Our room had no phone, a broken TV, and no deadbolt either. Maid service barged into an occupied room. This was nowhere near the experience I expected, and the difference between the reviews here and the reality was hard to believe for what looked like a great locally owned option. Dec 2025 edit - I did a CC chargeback after the poor experience, rude treatment, and shortened stay, and received a full refund.
