Carlisle Garden Suites

There’s charm here, and it looks like a lot went into the upgrades, but I didn’t think the stay was worth the cost. We were the only guests, apart from a very hungry cat that had no food or water, and there was no staff around if we needed anything. Our room had just one coffee cup, and the on-demand hot water took a LONG time. The tub’s hot and cold taps were reversed, so you had to turn it to cold for hot water. The “club house” was a room with a dirty couch, a filthy fridge, dirty dishes in the sink, half-and-half for coffee, and some random old food containers and hard-boiled eggs. It looked like it had never been cleaned. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

The bathroom and bathtub were phenomenal, and the bed and pillows were hard to beat. It was a tidy, comfortable, cute place with free Wi-Fi, a great kitchen for cooking a little if you want a night in, and a very low price in an excellent location. We picked a room near the road, so it was kind of loud until evening. We’ll stay again.

The rooms are spacious, with nice kitchenettes, spa tubs, and great water pressure. The proprietor is friendly and clearly cares about guests being comfortable. It’s near downtown, and the Coop is less than a mile away. We’d definitely return and recommend it to friends.

It’s an easy walk to town and the theaters, but our stay was disappointing. I booked mainly for the jetted tub because of a back injury, which makes it important for me after walking all day while traveling. Filling it took about 45 minutes because the water pressure was extremely low. When I went to use it, there were several hairs and other debris floating in the water. There’s no one on site. I called the manager and was told to try again in an hour, then kept reaching voicemail. Hours later I finally spoke with Tamara, who apologized and said hair and dirt can get trapped in the jets. She said she’d ask the owners to call me about the discount I requested, but I never heard back, even after leaving another message. We also didn’t get enough towels for all three guests. I saw some older ladies struggle with their room code, too, with nobody there to help. You need a cellphone to stay here and have to hope they answer, which doesn’t always happen. I can’t recommend it.
