Knights Inn Ashland

This is an economy hotel at about $60 a night including taxes, and the TRU HOTEL next door charges over $180. It’s clean and bug-free, with a reasonably sized room where the lights, AC, and everything else worked. The bed was only so-so for comfort. There’s no inside hallway or real lobby, and no coffee maker in the room. We heard some traffic outside, but it wasn’t too bad, and parking right in front of our room was a plus. If you want a clean room at an affordable price, it does the job. For a fancy place with extras, choose another hotel.

The beds were comfortable, probably the only good thing about this place. The walls are so thin you can hear people talking in the next room, and there was an obnoxiously loud band rehearsal every night from around 7 to 9. I believe the people who own the place are the ones playing. There was no breakfast, despite what was advertised, and the toilet seat wasn’t fastened down, so it slid around and made using the toilet a balancing act.

This was the cheapest hotel my boyfriend and I could find, so I wasn’t expecting much, but it turned out better than I thought. The floor was a little dirty, though the room was comfortable for what we needed. The microwave, TV, fridge, and freezer all worked, and there were towels and soap. The staff were really nice and understanding. They’re also one of the few hotels that would let us stay at 18 instead of requiring 21. I’m not a trucker, and I thought some of the other reviews were kind of silly given the dirt cheap price. You get what you pay for, and it’s no luxury place, but it was a nice stop after a long trip. The shower had hot water, too.

The family next door kept their TV loud, yelled, and had a baby crying through the night. Inside my room, the bathroom was filthy, with splatter on it and a dirty mirror. I couldn't find a TV remote, and while checking drawers I came across mouse droppings. The young woman behind the glass either couldn't understand my question or didn't want to answer it. Staying here after Christmas was the worst motel experience I've had.
