American Inn and Suites

The staff were great, but the room and facilities had a lot of problems. The sink water temperature was off, the toilet barely flushed, and the fridge took hours to cool. There wasn't a coffee machine, and the lobby ice maker had no ice. I wouldn't pay more than $25 for a night here. Honestly, I would've been better off sleeping in my car.

Small, clean place, though definitely an older hotel. The AC took a while to cool the room, and the sink had no cold water. My husband knows his way around electronics and spent 15 minutes trying, but the TV volume still wouldn't work. The bed sits really high, so it's not great if you're short! Still, it was fine for one night. 😁

The quiet and safe feel, plus the very friendly housekeeping staff, were the upsides. The rooms are small but very clean, and I didn't find any bed bugs despite earlier comments. I paid $55 plus tax in cash. Rates are reasonable, but the owner was hard to understand and the desk attendant wasn't very friendly. There's no coffee maker in the room or lobby, and the hot water needs attention. From outside it's a small, clean-looking hotel with three American flags out front, while the lobby looks like a Hindu temple.

The rooms are kept pretty clean, and the location is convenient. But I had a bad experience paying: the room was $65 and two cans of soda were $1 each, so from my $100 bill I should've gotten $33 back. She handed me just $5, and I had to explain that the change was wrong. It felt like she couldn't work the calculator, and the whole thing came off like a scam, as if she hoped I'd feel bad enough to leave a big tip. Make sure you have the right change if you stay, because she overcharged me and didn't give the correct amount back. The police around there were also obnoxiously on duty, following me whenever I passed through. Is the neighborhood crime really that bad? The owners could ease up on customers' privacy and wallets.
