We booked at the last minute for Aspen Gay Ski Week, when this was the only reasonably priced place we could find, and it didn't disappoint. The inn is quaint, central, and very reasonably priced, with a kitchenette in the room. Ours was spacious and well equipped, with two queen beds and a twin, enough for five, plus basic dishes and cookware. It's about a 10-minute walk to the slopes. Free buses to the different mountains stop within a block, including the Aspen/Ajax bus if you don't want to carry your skis. And for the one-star reviewer below, they can't control the weather, and their cancellation policy is clearly stated. They're an independent inn, not a large Marriott. I'll stay here again next time I'm in Aspen.

We've had our second perfect visit this year. Thanks to everyone. If you grew up around here, this is one of the few ski lodgings left with lots of character, and that's why we keep coming back. Just don't stay here if you plan to party or make noise after 10. The serious skiers need their sleep.

For a town where this seems to be the only reasonably priced hotel, it's surprisingly decent. The front desk is friendly, and the room was spacious and clean, though a little dated. You can walk into town easily. I'd recommend it to anyone visiting Aspen who wants an affordable place to stay.

I had a booking for January 7-10, 2026, made several months ahead. The hotel charged me in two payments, on October 13 and December 8, 2025. As the dates got closer, it was clear the weather wasn't good for skiing, so I asked whether I could move the stay or get a refund if that wasn't possible. They refused. The customer service person then told me ski conditions would improve before my visit, which wasn't true. When I pointed that out, he raised his voice and became aggressive. I kept calm, but he continued as if he hadn't yelled. I understand I probably wasn't the only person calling, but that doesn't make it okay to treat me poorly. I ended by wishing him a calmer temper with the next customer. He laughed and denied losing his temper. I don't appreciate the inflexibility, dishonesty, or gaslighting at a hotel that cost $900. The room was large, well kept, and could fit up to five people. The hotel has been around since 1970, so it has a classic older look, but it's maintained well. Its location is excellent: most attractions, shops, and restaurants are less than half a mile away, and the road noise didn't bother us. The front desk staff were especially helpful and gave us useful tips for visiting Aspen on a budget. I would've given five stars if the bed had been more comfortable. The sheets were older and yellowed but clean, and the pillows seemed old too. We enjoyed our stay, and I recommend it for friendly, affordable lodging in Aspen.
