Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Atascadero

We barely slept, and now we have a nine hour drive ahead of us. Our room was right by the kitchen, so at 5:30 a.m. on Sunday we could hear the staff talking and laughing when they apparently started their shift. I called the front desk, and the person said they were just doing their jobs and would ask them to lower their voices, but nothing changed. I don’t blame the staff for working. That room just isn’t set up for rest because it’s next to the kitchen. They should put guests in another area or ask the staff to keep their voices down at 5:30. Definitely not a place to rest.

The parking lot had plenty of space and was well lit, and the workout room and pool were very clean. Staff were friendly, and the room and bed were clean and comfortable. It had the usual things, like a coffee maker, fridge, ironing board and iron, and blow dryer. I’ll stay again next time I’m in town.

This is a very basic motel, so keep your expectations low. There’s no real lobby or outdoor space, and the pool is closed in winter. During our stay the elevator and ice machine were both broken, and there was trash in the hallway. The nearby Springhill Marriott is far superior in every way, so you’d be better off there.

The pool was a delight, and the whole place was well maintained. Everyone was kind, attentive, and helpful with our special requests. The breakfast guy was especially lovely. We stay at a lot of Marriott properties, and this is easily one of our favorites. Thanks for taking such good care of us.
