The room was clean when a friend stayed here twenty years ago, though even then it seemed like many rooms were occupied by people staying temporarily. It cost $50 a night at the time. Now Green Acres Motel has clearly deteriorated. It feels like a 1930s-era relic that mainly serves transient guests and people dealing with housing insecurity. The rooms are just big enough for a bed, luggage, and a bathroom.

If you just need somewhere cheap to crash, you can manage here. I found the rooms cramped, though, and they got cold easily. The heat also took a while to warm the room up.

I was bitten by bed bugs throughout my stay and left a couple of weeks ago. The manager told me nobody had complained about bed bugs before. But as I was leaving, I saw someone in another room holding up a bed and spraying it with bed bug spray, with the door open. The place gave me horror movie vibes, so spend a few extra dollars and stay somewhere else. Also, people were being charged different prices for rooms of the same size, which is against the law.

The water pressure was great, and the air conditioner cooled the room down well. I stayed in August 2016 and had a really pleasant time here. I’d definitely stay again.

The outside tells the story, and the place looks cheap inside and out. I’d call it the Bug Motel. Every time I opened the door, bugs flew in, and I saw spiders coming out of cracks and ticks crawling onto the bed. At night I was afraid to open the door because the room could fill with mosquitoes, sand flies, flies, bees, and more within seconds. Even in the cold season, there were still bugs everywhere. It seemed like a serious infestation. They should spend money spraying the property, including the grass and inside the rooms, to get the numbers under control. There were stray cats, too. I think ticks and ants were drawn to food people left for them, then got into other rooms. They should take the cats to a shelter. There was no housekeeping while I was there, so you’re better off buying everything from scratch. The Wi-Fi was almost always switched off at night. I’d get home from work and sometimes only have two hours before it went off until morning. In a month, it was on for maybe two nights, plus some of the day. I’d watch a movie before showering because I expected the connection to disappear. Without internet on my phone, I’d have been bored out of my mind. They should change the Wi-Fi sign to say access is only from 8am-8pm, so business travelers know it’s limited and can choose somewhere else. I moved to a nearby motel after a long workday because I wanted to watch a movie on the TV using the internet, and I was tired of the bugs. This is a last-option kind of place.
