I checked out immediately after this awful stay at Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Athens, GA. The room was dirty and outdated, the bathroom drain was clogged with hair, and ventilation was poor. I coughed through the night and woke up congested in my chest. The beds and walls were dirty and damaged, and the cot my son used had urine and food stains. I asked to change rooms and was told the hotel was fully booked, though I saw cleaned rooms ready. They also said no manager was available and there was no way to reach management. I sent photos of the conditions to Choice Hotels corporate customer service. They couldn't help and said only the hotel could refund me. Corporate called the hotel, but the front desk clerk refused, and corporate then said nothing more could be done. This place is unsanitary and poorly managed, and the company offered no real support. If something goes wrong, you're on your own. Save your money and stay somewhere else.

The location is really convenient, and the front desk staff were pleasant and accommodating. But the first room we got had ants, and after I asked to switch, the next room had them too. We were constantly killing ants, which made for a lousy stay. Other guests kept slamming doors as well.

We picked this place because my kid had an early soccer game at a field about 10 minutes away. The room was okay, clean, smelled good, and reasonably comfortable. Still, one key didn't work, and the pivot hinge was damaged and looked ready to fall off, though it worked and the door locked. The single elevator was usable but small, and the breakfast area had limited food and seating. It's a decent spot in Athens, but we paid $550.00 for one Saturday night after a UGA football game. That's far too much for what was offered, and felt like price gouging to me. At another time, it could be a nice place to stay.

The room had moldy grout and ants in the bathroom. Staff weren't rude, but I didn't find them friendly or very personable either. There were homeless people begging all around as you drove up, while the entrance itself looked very fancy. Most rooms have interior windows facing the hallway. We weren't given a room assignment or told where to find the room, and the signage wouldn't be much help in an emergency.

We had a reservation mix-up, and apparently other people did too. Sounds like their system needs an upgrade. One employee was nice; most of the others acted like we were bothering them. The room was only fair and badly needed attention: the mattress was thin and hard, the pillows barely felt like pillows, and the toilet seat was loose. Several routine repairs seemed to have been ignored. We heard traffic all night, along with people upstairs moving furniture. Breakfast was poor unless cereal is enough for you. I've stayed at other Country Inns, and this one felt like a slap in the face. The kitchen and cleaning staff sat in the breakfast area, talking loudly across the room. They were rude, yelling in Spanish. The location wasn't good either, with a broken hotel window and few places to walk to for food. The worst part was how much they were allowed to raise prices for a game. Do yourself a favor and keep driving.
