Athens Downtown

This was my second stay, and I plan to come back next time. It's easy to get in and out, and downtown is close enough to walk to for food and things to do. The staff are friendly, my room was clean, and the water pressure was amazing. There's a pool, a small weight room, and food and drinks available from the restaurant. Thanks for a great stay!

The room itself was great, and I really liked the shower. We agreed to a poolside room when they asked, but didn't realize the pool area seemed to be hosting a party. Around 20 adults were there, with kids screaming in the pool, people standing along the edge with adult drinks, and loud music playing. I'm all for people having fun, but there wasn't much consideration for the other hotel guests.

The staff were courteous and made us feel welcome, and there's plenty of free parking. We could walk to dinner and entertainment because the hotel is centrally located near downtown Athens. Our room stayed quiet and cool, and the memory foam bed still had a nice spring to it. We slept like babies. Very clean, very nice, and we'd happily come back.

The carpets had visible food bits, crumbs were left on the desk, and the small side table was sticky both underneath and on top. The foam headboard wasn't fully covered, and the popcorn ceiling was peeling. This hotel was dirty, and it felt like Housekeeping was setting the policy. My status allows a 24 hour stay period, but the desk first said 1PM was the latest checkout. I asked about a 4PM checkout as a Titanium Elite member and was put on hold before I could finish explaining. They came back after checking with housekeeping and offered 2PM as the best they could do. The gym was closed, apparently being used to store boxes, and the pool was operating but closed to guests who only wanted to sit outside. The front desk said downtown was walkable by taking the back stairs, crossing the Fraternity parking lot, and turning left. It was an easy walk, but I was glad the fraternity house wasn't having a party. Check out the Springhill Suites and pay the difference. I won't be back.
