Hampton Inn Athens

The whole place felt clean and well run, and the employees were unusually attentive. I was here for a business trip, and breakfast was good enough to get me to eat, which isn't something I usually do.

The stairs let you out outside instead of back into the lobby, and the elevator felt a little sketchy. Still, the staff were top notch, and the lobby is laid out really well. Breakfast was the best I've had at this kind of hotel in years, with cold yogurt and hot entrees, and everything was well stocked.

The shower pressure was my one complaint. I think the recent renovation added low-flow showerheads, which may be better for the environment, but it means longer showers and is frustrating. We had no major problems otherwise. The hotel is right off the interstate, and mobile check-in plus a digital key in the app made our overnight stop easy. Breakfast was great, and I'd stay here again if I pass through.

I had a great stay apart from the room itself, number 314. Its odd shape made me think it used to be something else, and the carpet felt uneven underfoot. Also, if lights bother you when you're trying to sleep, this room is tough: the smoke detector and microwave lights sit right across from the bed.
