Super 8 Motel - Athens

We were driving from Delaware to New Orleans and realized about halfway there that we aren’t 18 anymore and needed to stop for sleep. Other hotels nearby cost a lot more, and this one had the lowest rate, so we took a chance despite the bad reviews. The room was clean and I think freshly painted. We smelled a little weed outside near a ground-level room, but only while we were outdoors. The place was quiet and peaceful, so it didn’t bother us. There were places for food, gas, and liquor just yards away. We didn’t stay long enough to use it, but there was also a pavilion with picnic tables and a decent-looking pool. For a budget stop while passing through, I’d recommend it. It’s a five-star hotel if you’re comparing places in the same price range.

The heat didn’t work, so I changed rooms. In the next one, the fire detector was beeping, and the tub wouldn’t hold water. It was too cold to bathe anyway. Nobody was helpful or seemed to care that I was cold all night.

The room was clean, and the person checking me in was friendly and helpful. I’d definitely stay again.

I found the room clean and comfortable. The staff were helpful, friendly, and professional.
