The photos really did this place justice. We loved the atmosphere, from the lobby bar to the “speakeasy” downstairs, and breakfast came with fresh coffee and tasty food. Everyone was so welcoming, especially Dean at the front desk, and valets Donald and Stanley looked after us well. We’re hoping it’s warm enough to enjoy the lovely courtyard next time, though they had heaters out for cooler evenings.

The hotel looks great, but the service made the stay frustrating. I spent five days there, and the guest elevator stayed out of order the whole time. At check-in, no one was at the desk, so I found the employee chatting at the bar. He sent me to the service elevator but didn’t mention it only reached the third floor, while my room was on the fourth. I had to go back down and sort it out myself. The next day, after the gym, my key card stopped working. The same employee told me to use the service elevator again, rather rudely. When I asked how I was meant to get to the fourth floor, he looked annoyed, reactivated the key, and said nothing more. Checkout was another hassle. I asked for a receipt for a minibar charge, but they said housekeeping had to check it first and then told me there was no record, even though a couple of days had passed. When I asked if they could email it, the answer was basically, “you can try.” It’s a beautiful hotel, but the service really hurt the experience.

Jayden in valet was quick, friendly, and trustworthy. We’ve had some disappointing valet experiences before, so it’s a relief to feel comfortable with the team for our next visit. At the front desk, Frank made our anniversary stay especially memorable. He noticed the occasion and surprised us with an incredible room upgrade. He didn’t need to do that, and we would have enjoyed the stay anyway, but his thoughtfulness meant a lot. He’s a wonderful example of hospitality. I can’t remember everyone’s names, but every interaction at the Granada was pleasant. It’s clear the staff take their work seriously. This hotel really embodies hospitality.

The seascape is what made the place feel so comfortable. It was easy to tune out the bustle just outside, though just as easy to step out and join in. In the corridors I felt like I was back in a childhood vacation memory, then the courtyard gave me the feeling of being in Italy, about to browse shops and grab a bite. We loved our short stay. It had a nostalgic feel mixed with a bit of serendipity. There’s a breakfast cafe in the lobby, two bars on site, and a speakeasy too. This will stay near the top of my list for places to stay within driving distance.

The room had a cozy sitting area and lovely design, but the windows facing the main road wouldn’t latch. Cold air and street noise, including sirens, traffic, and the valet, came in all night. There was only one bedside table, and no outlet near the bed, so I couldn’t charge my phone within reach. There was no coffee or tea in the room or anywhere on the property before 7 AM, which was inconvenient with my early morning. The front desk attendant tried to help when I asked, though came across a bit assertive. Hotel Granada in Midtown Atlanta is a charming boutique hotel with lots of character. Check-in took a while because the associate said it was her first time checking someone in. She was very sweet and clearly doing her best, but still learning the process. I stayed in a King Suite. The place has potential, but those comfort and operational issues made the stay less comfortable than I expected.
