The second booking was last minute. I called from work to reserve a room for my friend while she was dealing with a family emergency, and worried check-in would be difficult without me there. The sales staff handled everything smoothly. My friend said they were very sweet to her and her son and helped them feel welcome and at ease. Knowing they had a safe, convenient place to stay while I worked and finished moving furniture into my guest room took a huge weight off my mind. I’ll recommend the hotel to people traveling here, and I’m looking forward to seeing the renovations. I also stayed with friends on New Years' Eve. Both stays impressed us. The hotel is pretty, very well located, clean, and up to date. The shower was spotless, the beds comfortable, and the rooms bright with natural light. Prices seemed reasonable, especially compared with the maintenance problems I’ve seen at hotels around the country since 2020. They seemed understaffed at the front desk and restaurant, hopefully because of the holidays. The people working did their best to make guests feel at home, but our first booking had a mix-up that delayed check-in by an hour while they found the room types we’d booked. Restaurant service was slow too, though the food was good. The fried okra was the best I’ve had since my grandmom was alive.
At $300 a night, I expected a refrigerator and room safe, but there was neither. The windows had no screens and couldn’t be opened, and the shuttle only goes within three minutes of the hotel, with no airport service. We were out all day and came back at 3 pm to find the room still uncleaned. There was loud noise overhead at night, like a cart rolling across the floor above us. Bathroom lighting was awful, and without a fan the mirror steamed up during showers. The hotel is being remodeled, but for now it feels dated. The elevator was dirty and the restaurant had ripped bar stools. The pool and hot tub were closed during our visit, even though it was 50 degrees. I understand closing the pool, but it would have been nice to use the hot tub. Staff were generally unfriendly and unhelpful, apart from the man serving breakfast in the restaurant. I was charged for three days of breakfast when I only needed two. When I asked for a credit, they said they couldn’t help because breakfast was charged through a third party. That was ridiculous. This was one of my worst hotel experiences.
The empty “ice boxes” on each floor were gross. They were just square freezers, with empty ice bags inside, and one even had trash in it. The replacement room was fine, though I was annoyed there was no fridge, especially at this price. What pushed me to write this was the lack of any apology or acknowledgement. I waited ten minutes in line to check in, then found dead ants by the shower and some crawling on the bathroom walls and the wall by the entrance. I was polite when I reported it, but the front desk employee interrupted after I’d barely gotten a sentence out. I had to wait again for another room, and she never apologized. I won’t be back.
For the entire five-night stay, housekeeping never came to clean our room. The shower head broke the next morning and stopped working altogether. When we told the front desk, the man shrugged and said our third-party booking meant there was “nothing he could do” except send housekeeping the next day. That never happened. We repeatedly tried to get help, but staff made no effort to resolve things or take responsibility. The outside looks charming, with a lovely pool and boutique style, but the room was shocking. The bathroom floor had brown slime, shower tiles were cracked, and there was visible mold. The vinyl plank floor throughout felt sticky, and one pillow had a wad of hair on it. The dresser drawers wouldn’t open. This was unacceptable for a Hotel Indigo, and the worst stay I’ve had at one, or any IHG property. Absolutely unacceptable for a brand that presents itself as upscale and modern.
I'm a Platinum elite member. I arrived around 9:45pm for a prepaid check-in, only to learn they had shut down the cooling tower despite warmer than normal temperatures that week. We waited an hour while they figured out our room couldn’t be cooled. The owner and hotel offered just 2000 points, about $12, with no other compensation or room elsewhere. That didn’t make up for the wasted hour or the lack of a room. I’m staying at a Hilton property tonight because they’re much more professional than IHG. Hilton treats its HHonor members much better. Don’t spend your time or money here, whatever your IHG status.
