The best thing is the location, less than a five-minute walk from the beach, though it isn't an ocean view despite the name. Parking costs $10 cash only. There's an ATM there, but it requires a $20 minimum withdrawal. No bugs, thank god, but I still wouldn't recommend this place. You get what you pay for. We only needed one night, and our first room hadn't been cleaned, so they moved us. The second wasn't much better, with burn holes in the sheets and very dated decor. The microwave was in a room on the second floor that looked abandoned.

The pool plan was a big reason we came for my birthday, but there were other problems too. We got a king smoking room, called ahead to say we'd arrive early, and waited 15 minutes for cleaning when we got there, which was fine. The room was 415. Right away we saw the bathroom door hanging off its hinges, with damage at the bottom like someone had kicked or axed it. The bathroom light didn't work either. We told the manager, who seemed absent-minded about it, and the cleaning lady hadn't mentioned it. They moved us to 420, but we waited another 25 minutes for that room to be cleaned. The replacement was better, but the “oceanview” was a dead lie: the rooms face away from the ocean. The bed was very low, and even though we'd booked a smoking room, the sheets shouldn't have reeked of cigarettes. There were cigarette burns on the covers and only three pillows. The room felt cramped, my boyfriend hated the low bed, the TV picture was terrible with only a few channels, and the internet was bad. Someone banged on our door during the night and was gone before we could answer. In the morning we saw about three homeless people sleeping in the lounge by the microwave. There was no security and nobody at the front desk. We left early after speed-eating breakfast because we were afraid someone might break in and steal our things. The price wasn't worth it. We wanted to be near the boardwalk with a nice view for my birthday, but I would not stay here.

The toilet stopped flushing on my second day, during a stay of about a week. I told the desk and housekeeping for days. On the last night they gave me the key to the room next door, which they'd tried to move me into before, but its air conditioner was broken. Their answer was, “just use the bathroom there until yours is fixed.” The bathroom in our room would have disgusted the board of health, but we had to stay because the other room had no air. This is a room that costs 40$ any time of year but summer, and we overpaid. Before dark, I went back to ask when our bathroom would be fixed, and they tried to hand me the plunger. I told them we paid for the room and weren't going to plunge the toilet almost a week later. Other paying guests in the lobby agreed with me. The motel workers got offended, waited until checkout, then came to my door, degraded and disrespected me, called me names, and said I was banned. It was frankly offensive. Please be careful if you book here. Paying customers shouldn't have to put up with disrespect and such low standards. While I was there, CPS also came and took two children from one of their “residents.” Very sad.

They charged us before we even reached the building, despite our specifically saying we wanted to pay cash. They also charged four times the original price. When we asked for a refund, the manager shouted obscenities and showed us a middle finger as we left. The behavior was unacceptable. There were no towels in the room. We had to ask at reception, and the ones we got had orange stains and black hairs on them. The room smelled like mold, and the sheets had red stains. People find needles in their fridges here. Avoid this place if you respect yourself and your peace of mind. Crazy experience.
