My work stay went very well, and I'd recommend this Marriott if you want to be away from the boardwalk's hustle. It's especially convenient for the convention center and outlet mall. The hotel feels classy, though a bit dated. Staff at the front desk and restaurant were great. My room was well furnished with a microwave, fridge, and coffee maker. Some bathroom fixtures and lights are old, and there aren't many plugs or USB ports. Parking is valet or self-park across the street at the convention center. I'd drop bags with the bellman before parking. There's a good Miss America memorabilia collection, going back to the early 1900s, for pageant fans. The 16th-floor lounge has a Starbucks coffee machine but only light snacks like nuts and granola bars. Breakfast is in the second-floor restaurant, which, as far as I know, only opens for breakfast. The buffet was plentiful and service was excellent. The lobby also has an independently run, overpriced souvenir shop with a limited selection of food and sundries. The fitness room was okay, with plenty of cardio machines and a set of dumbbells.

We found a stain that looked like blood on the sheets when we were getting ready for bed. It took the front desk a long time to respond. When someone finally came, they handed us the sheets and refused to change them. My boyfriend had to call a manager and insist someone deal with them because touching them felt dangerous. They eventually took care of it and gave us breakfast vouchers, but we had to escalate it before anyone took us seriously. The hotel was extremely outdated, though I wouldn't call it dirty. Our room looked old and due for a refresh, with peeling wallpaper, residue on the desk where things like a phone or alarm clock had been stuck, old carpet, and a strange amount of empty space, like it was missing a couch. It doesn't seem to have been maintained for quite a while, and needs renovating to match the prices. We stayed at the Sheraton in Atlantic City over the holidays. Everything seemed to cost extra, including parking and breakfast. We arrived an hour or two before check-in and paid quite a bit to get into the room early. I understand guaranteed early check-in can cost extra, but hotels usually let you in when the room is ready. Our original full bed was so small that two adults would have struggled to fit. We asked the front desk for an upgrade because we were unhappy, and they charged us more per night, even though the hotel was practically empty. Parking, which we paid for daily, was at the convention center across the street. We had to walk outside to reach the hotel, passing many homeless people sleeping right in front. That felt unsafe with luggage and when we returned late. There is a tunnel from the hotel to the garage, but the front desk didn't want to explain how to use it, saying outside was faster. We figured it out ourselves, but it was closed for construction. We won't stay here again.

The valet was wonderful and respectful, and most people we encountered were hospitable. One concierge was a bit rude. The location wasn't bad, though it felt a little secluded. We were on a day trip from MD in December, with snow in the forecast, and stayed at the Sheraton with my sister, brother-in-law, and friend. Our room was okay, but the tub drained very slowly. We called twice for extra towels; nobody knocked, and when we opened the door to check, the towels had been left on the floor outside, without a bag. That was nasty. We went out for the evening expecting the bar to still be open, but it closed early, maybe because snow was forecast. At checkout the next morning, I told them we were unhappy with the service. They acted concerned, but their faces made it seem like they couldn't care less. I don't think we'll choose this hotel again.

The beds weren't especially comfortable for us, with a mattress a little too firm and pillows much too soft. On the plus side, the shower temperature was fantastic. There was used soap left from the previous guest, and the sheets were on top of the comforter rather than the usual arrangement with the comforter on top. The decor felt unique and historic rather than modern, and the hotel was convenient for the event we attended. The internet was unreliable, especially when my best friend tried to use her tablet. Housekeeping kept trying to unlock the door even after we said we were coming to open it, which bothered both of us. I also wish someone had explained the parking setup more clearly, since it can confuse visitors. We learned the hard way that delivery drivers can't bring food to the room. I'd give it 3.5 stars, rounded up to four.

We hardly noticed noise, even though our room was the first one on the corner by the elevators. Still, this wasn't one of our better stays. The room was small, dated, and needed a more thorough cleaning. Dust built up on the lamp made that clear. The linens were so old they were fraying at the edges, and the lamp's plug was a quarter the size of our phone charger block, it looked that outdated. Parking was across the street and cost $30 per day for access. I know this is a busy convention center hotel, but the rooms could use some care.
