Augusta Marriott at the Convention Center

We had breakfast in the concierge lounge and enjoyed the evening desserts. The bathroom seemed to be the most recently updated part, and the shower had hot water with good pressure. The staff were punctual and helpful throughout, and the lobby gave the hotel an upscale first impression. After checking in, though, the facilities felt less impressive. Our two queen suite looked like it had seen some updates, but still felt dated. A folded towel was dirty, there was dirt by the entryway, and the appliances were old. The garage was convenient, but the spaces were tight and it wasn’t clean. I’d recommend it if you’re looking for somewhere downtown.

The second room had a clogged sink and wasn’t much cleaner, though I didn’t see any roaches there. I’d arrived late and was too tired to deal with the crumbs I saw across the first room’s floor, but later I spotted several cockroaches and had to move rooms. The hotel feels very dated and dirty, and I left disappointed. Marriott should improve its floor cleaning, since dirty floors seem to have become a pattern at the Marriotts I’ve stayed at lately. Do they ever do a deep clean? I was here for a work conference and wouldn’t choose to return.

It was nice being able to walk to the river and nearby restaurants, and the bed was cozy. But the pool was drained for repairs, with no alternative pool at a sister hotel, which was a huge letdown since we’d planned to spend the whole day there. The shower only got lukewarm, and the bathtub faucet dripped constantly. At night, lots of light came through the hallway doors because they barely sealed. The stairwells were really dusty, so I wouldn’t use them for exercise.

The room wasn’t clean when I arrived, with noticeable problems that made the stay uncomfortable. More seriously, an AirTag attached to my USC work device, which held important projects, went missing from my room. Its tracking led me to believe it had been taken while I was at the hotel. I told the staff, but their response felt dismissive and unhelpful. Losing something connected to my work is serious, and I expected more accountability. Between that and the room condition, I wouldn’t trust this hotel with my belongings or recommend it. I had a terrible stay at the Augusta Marriott at the Convention Center.
