Hampton Inn & Suites Chicago/Aurora

The bed and pillows were comfortable, and housekeeping always greeted us with a cheerful good morning. The room layout was nice and there were lots of USB ports, but a few things needed attention. The bathroom door squeaked, had to be pushed to latch, and dragged the bath mat whenever it opened or closed. There were black marks on the white wall by the hinges, as if someone had tried spraying the squeak away. The windows weren't latched on our first night, so we had noise and a cold draft. I managed to latch one the next morning with some effort. On the other, only one side would catch, even when I pulled hard, though I did stop the breeze. The room coffee tasted weak and, honestly, like it was half sawdust. The downstairs coffee wasn't much better, so I'd go to Mcds for a cup. None of this was unlivable, but a GM should have caught the door and window problems during room checks.

The property is big but well cared for, and the rooms are spacious. Breakfast is better than most, the pool is huge, and the location is great. Kelly, Amanda, and the rest of the staff were great too. Best hotel in the area, and worth paying extra.

The biggest problem was Jennifer, or Jenn, at the front desk. She was rude and unprofessional. Another staff member confirmed there have been lots of complaints about her, yet management hasn't taken appropriate action. The rooms were very clean and looked after, and breakfast was great. My kids had fun in the kiddie pool while my wife and I relaxed in the jacuzzi.

The room had a modern look, a tiled entrance, coat pegs, plenty of outlets, a fridge, microwave, drawers, and a good work area with both a desk chair and an easy chair. Ground-floor rooms have high ceilings, and the lobby and dining area are nice. The place looked freshly updated and was spotless. TV was okay, with a modest channel lineup. The wall chargers are slow, but the clock charger is faster. Hallways and parking are well lit, and there was always a clerk at the desk. There's also a list of local foodie spots, plus a pool, gym, and laundry. In November 2025 they might have been doing roof work. It could be noisy during the day, but I had no issue. Ground-floor windows open.
