Poeta is worth a stop for breakfast. Try the thick smoked bacon and triangular hash browns. We got a $10 credit for one of the hotel's restaurants, and there’s secure underground parking for $35 a night. Since bars and other places are within walking distance, we didn't need to drive around and pay for more parking. My dad and I stayed at East Austin Hotel for the first time while in town for the nascar race. The place has a nice mid-century look, and our room had two comfortable queen beds, a patio overlooking the pool, and a walk-in shower instead of a tub. The pool and outdoor bar looked like fun for warmer weather, and there's also a rooftop bar we didn't get to see. I was very pleased and would stay here again next time I'm in Austin, ideally when the poolside bar is open.

We enjoyed our stay and found it affordable, so I'd come back. The area was easy to get around on foot, with food trucks, restaurants, bars, and the open-air live music spots on 6th street nearby. Ubers to and from SoCo or downtown ran about $7-18, and we were close to tourist areas. We spent a day exploring the state capital. The hotel was cute, with large rooms decorated in a modern-retro style. Ours was a loft, with the bathroom and shower open to the rest of the room, while the little toilet room had a door. There were no windows, just a large glass door with a curtain, and the main room felt a bit dark without a ceiling light. We found a bug, which seemed normal in Texas's muggy weather, and the staff were incredibly accommodating about it. They also gave us two free drink tickets for the rooftop bar.

The two things I'd keep in mind: the shower takes a while to heat up, so give it time, and you can hear cars and faint music at night in the Waller rooms listed as quiet. That's not surprising in the middle of a city, though. I'd love to stay again, 10/10. The location felt safe and was great, with a cute, clean hotel and everything we needed, including locked on-site parking for $35/day. Our room was serviced daily, which was a pleasant surprise post-COVID. The rooftop drinks were excellent, and the pool was beautiful. JewBoys is right across the street, and their sliders are worth getting. ChatGPT recommended the hotel, and I'm glad we followed that suggestion.

The shared bathrooms and showers are something you need to be comfortable with, but they were well managed and pleasant. The hotel has thoughtful decor, courteous staff, and the details are taken care of. There’s underground parking, and the central location puts plenty of good places nearby, including downtown 6th street bars and music within walking distance.

We found it easy to walk to music, bars, and food, since the hotel is only five blocks from downtown. The staff were welcoming and knew the neighborhood well, suggesting local spots we wouldn't have found ourselves. I'll definitely book again when I'm back in Austin. I loved East Austin Hotel's feel. The mid-century design with Moroccan inspiration is fresh and cool, and the rooms are comfortable without being over the top. The Rooftop Bar and Pool Bar were great for relaxing with cocktails under string lights and a laid-back crowd.
