Everything is shared, but the beds are really comfortable and they provide sheets, a blanket, a pillow, a towel, and toilet paper. There are lockers if you want to store your things, though you’ll need to bring your own lock. Check-in is only from 3 to 8 PM. If you book through Air bnb, I’d call a few days ahead to ask how check-in works. Josh, the property manager, and the other workers, Elsa & Angela, did a great job making the place feel comfortable and safe. It was relaxed and clean, and I’d absolutely come back. The location is handy, with restaurants within easy walking distance and downtown less than a mile away. Scooters can get you around in about five minutes. The food nearby is SO delicious, and vegans and vegetarians have plenty of options all over Austin. Thanks HK for a great experience!

This is a very small hostel, more like staying in a little dorm or at a friend’s house. The private room opens off the living room, so it can get noisy at any hour. Also, hot water was lacking. Still, the guys who work or volunteer here are really nice, and the East Austin location is good, with some great food within walking distance. The new tandem bike is awesome for getting around town.

A decent place in a good spot, especially if you’re passing through or just starting out in Austin. The bed was clean and really comfortable, and the people were friendly while respecting my privacy. There’s food and plenty to do around the hostel. If you avoid tap water, there’s a small market nearby, and HEB is reachable with a not-too-long bike ride.

The people were helpful and nice, and the other guests were cool too. But I’d strongly advise against booking the private room. It’s downstairs, with a door opening right onto the main lounge and kitchen, and there’s a three-inch gap underneath. Noise comes straight through. I’ve stayed in private and shared hostel rooms around the world and never needed earplugs. I know I could have brought some, but that doesn’t solve how poorly this room blocks sound.
