Hyatt Place Austin / Lake Travis / Four Points

Constance gave me kind, last-minute help, and Alex communicated with me on checkout day. The front desk team was among the kindest I’ve encountered with Hyatt. I also enjoyed the quiet stay, the nearby HEB, and the dining options, though most places close around 9-10pm. Breakfast had good choices, especially the Texas-shaped waffle maker. My room was in a quiet part of the building, but it needed more cleaning: I found hair in the bathroom and shower, and I’m not sure the floor had been mopped. My stay was short, but I appreciated the staff.

Nicole at the front desk was always warm, kind, and helpful. Housekeeping did a fantastic job, and the hotel was immaculately maintained. One of the best places I’ve stayed.

Breakfast was fresh each morning with a good range of choices, and late checkout was a lifesaver. The room on our second stay was spacious and clean. After spending two nights here, one in Waco, then another night back here, this hotel seemed much cleaner and better cared for than the one in Waco. Our first room needed some freshening up, like the caulking, carpet, and scuffed walls. The walls are thin, so we could hear everything above us. The frosted glass bathroom doors were a bad design for nighttime trips: the light shone through and lit up the whole room while the kids were asleep.

The hotel itself was fine, but I was charged an extra $100 a couple of hours after checkout despite traveling with a service animal, noting it on my reservation, and telling the front desk at check-in. They told me later that paperwork was required to validate the animal. If they had said so at check-in, I would have provided it. I believe this practice violates the ADA, which permits only two questions: whether the animal is required because of a disability, and what work or task it has been trained to perform. The fee is small, but surprising guests with charges they were never told about is bad practice. The agent I spoke with suggested new employees might not know the policy. I called several times trying to reach a manager, but she was either off or at a doctor’s appointment, and she didn’t call me back. I won’t stay here again, and I’ll tell people not to stay at the hotel described as Lake Travis’s 2025 best. There are plenty of other hotels nearby without what I see as predatory pricing practices.
