La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Austin Airport

The location couldn’t be better, and the airport shuttle was great. The second room was very loud, though. At check-in, neither set of room keys worked, and we waited a long time before the desk attendant got there and moved us to another room. This morning’s service was very courteous. The pillows are hard, and the bathtubs are old.

Breakfast was decent, with waffles, eggs, sausage, yogurt, bread, fruit, and cereal. Our room was clean and a good size. The place seems renovated, but it still feels like an older hotel, with old AC units, doors you have to pull shut, and a few things that need fixing. The man who checked us in was very matter-of-fact, while the woman at checkout was friendly and warm. Good value just minutes from the airport.

The staff were great, and the room had plenty of seating, which I haven’t found in some other places. It was clean, the location worked well, and the price was good. I’d definitely stay here again on a future trip to Austin.

Communication with this hotel has been extremely difficult, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here. We gave it another chance after Wyndham customer service called us, but we won’t be back. The first time, last year, we found a cockroach in our room and the front desk reacted with frustration. This year, we were told we could leave our belongings in a secure room before check-in. It turned out to be a meeting room that anyone asking to leave items could enter. When we came back, the front desk couldn’t find the key. We waited more than an hour while staff tried to locate it, and the employee seemed very frustrated. Other guests needed to check in too, which I understand, but when they asked questions, the employee replied, “I’ll be with you in a moment, like I said.” We were worried but willing to wait for a solution, and the attitude felt unnecessary. We were offered a $50 refund for one room only, even though both parties were affected. We booked through Expedia, and it seems the hotel may have blocked Expedia’s contact. Expedia couldn’t reach the hotel by phone because the number immediately played “the number you dialed is invalid,” though I could call the desk myself. Expedia said they thought they were blocked. The hotel also hasn’t replied to the emails Expedia sent to confirm the correct address and get the refund so they could refund me. The beds were clean, but our shower handle was very loose and didn’t work properly. Other parts of the bathroom looked dated but were alright. If something goes wrong, I’d try to resolve it before leaving the property.
