Residence Inn Austin Lake Travis/River Place

The bed was comfortable and the employees were nice. The property could use some TLC and a deep clean. The floor by the vanity was dirty, and the in-room coffee was awful. We didn't use the pool.

Our expensive reusable water bottle was left drying on the kitchenette counter, but housekeeping threw it away. On top of that, the basketball court stays lit all night, and kids were loudly dribbling at 11pm and waking us up.

We'd stay again despite a handful of annoyances. The biggest one was the water: even with the shower turned all the way hot, it was only warm, and the shower diverter worked maybe 30% of the time, leaving a mediocre stream from the head. There was also a blinking ceiling light all night and broken covers in the refrigerator. We had a huge two-room suite with comfortable, clean beds, facing west for incredible sunset views. The kitchen was well equipped with silverware, plates, and even little miniatures of cleaning fluids. We also got early check-in. The hotel was responsive when the main-room TV wouldn't work at first and found a remote that turned it on. One thing we weren't told: our room was at the far left end of the building on the 4th floor, and there was no elevator at that end. We parked there as instructed, then had to carry our luggage all the way back to the lobby to reach the elevator.

I wanted to give it zero stars. Every time my family went into the room, it smelled, and the odor stayed all day. Breakfast STANK too. They called the pork things something like “flower,” and they tasted like flower pretending to be meat. Even the trash bags were a strange size, almost as big as my kid. DO NOT STAY HERE!
