Scottish Inns Austin Downtown

The cleaning staff were respectful and nice, and our room had clean linens, plenty of space, and was clean too. Kevin at the front office was especially helpful and super nice. He found my fiancé and me a nice room at an unbeatable weekly rate. Really nice place for the price.

The bed was comfortable, the staff were really nice, and the location worked well for trips back and forth to downtown Austin. But the room smelled of mold and cigarettes, had roaches, was dirty, and had a lot of broken items. There was even a hole in the tub. I won't come back.

I’m requesting a full refund for my stay. The check-in took nearly an hour because the printer wasn't working, and the room was filthy enough to be unsuitable to stay in. There were only two washcloths and no other towels, and the in-room phone didn't work. More seriously, the doors had no working inside locks and the smoke detectors weren't operational, which put guest safety at risk. I have attached photos documenting these problems. These conditions fell far below basic accommodation standards, and I await a written response confirming the refund.

I was there for about 30 seconds before deciding I had to leave. The L-shaped bracket for the door was missing, and while I waited for the manager to bring a key to a different room, I spotted a huge roach on the wall. I told her I absolutely couldn't stay. She was very nice and refunded me, which I appreciated. It's just off the highway in an area that didn't feel very nice, so I wouldn't recommend it to a woman traveling alone. Police showed up while I was trying to find another hotel. I don't know why, but it freaked me out a bit.
