Hotel St. Lauren

The bathroom had been updated, and the shower was really nice. The room was small, as expected since I knew it was an older hotel, but we enjoyed the sixth-floor view in the evening and coffee downstairs in the morning. Staff were friendly and offered early check-in when we arrived. Some reviews were mixed, so I came without high expectations. I'd recommend it.

The hotel has lost its character and standards, and I was very disappointed. I don't remember it being up a hill when we stayed here as newlyweds 23 years ago. After we caught our breath, we checked in and found our room filthy. We asked for a different one, but were told the hotel was fully booked.

My daughters and I arrived in April 2025, and the smell hit as soon as we walked in. The front desk man said it was coming from outside, so I decided to try it. But within 15 minutes in the dirty room, my four-year-old and I were coughing from the strong cigarette smell. We grabbed our bags and left without knowing where we'd stay that night. I asked the front desk for a refund and they refused; Hopper tried to help but said it was out of their hands. I lost all my money, which seemed like a lot for a place like that, and had nowhere to go. The front desk was no help. We won't book there again. Everything looked dirty. The building is old and most things are old, but some areas could still be scrubbed and cleaned, like the filthy seat.

The hotel was cute and nice, and the view was cute too, though the rooms were very small. The shower itself was nice, but the water pressure at the sink was horrible. Staff were friendly and let us check out late. I'd rate the stay 3 out of 5.
