Being up at the top, away from the cruise ship tourists, gave us a beautiful view and a nice escape. Kevin and Carlos were always there to drive us into town, though the walk is super short. I added an extra night and Nellie was kind and helpful as I unexpectedly extended my stay. Isabella in housekeeping was lovely and friendly, too. Kevin, Carlos, and Nellie were all great. High quality place to stay. I miss it already.

The rooftop viewpoint was the real highlight. We crossed to the opposite building and went up to the roof, and the view was incredible, much better than I expected. I couldn’t believe a hotel could have a view like that. Our Historic Deluxe King room looked out toward the mountains behind the hotel. When we arrived on Catalina Island, we called and the hotel sent a golf cart to pick us up at the ferry terminal. The ride took about 7-10 minutes. The hotel is up on a hillside, with beautiful island views. Its complimentary golf cart shuttle runs between the hotel and downtown Avalon from morning until 10 PM, with set pickup spots. It made getting around easy. There’s no charge, though you can tip the drivers if you want. It’s definitely on the expensive side, but given the views, atmosphere, and service, I think the price is reasonable. The property was very clean, quiet, and peaceful, and the staff were friendly with excellent service. I visited on a weekday and had no trouble with the shuttle, though I’m not sure if it would be enough on busy weekends when more visitors are on the island. Walking back uphill from downtown would be a fairly steep climb. I had a wonderful one-night stay. If I return to Catalina Island, I’d absolutely stay here again.

We got a great view of downtown from our room, and breakfast was exceptional. The hotel is a little far from most things to do, but the shuttle rides and short walks are well worth it once you get back to the room. They picked us up by shuttle when we stepped off the boat and had rides available down to the heart of Avalon whenever we needed them. Our experience at Zane Grey Pueblo Hotel was amazing from the start. We’ll definitely stay here again if we get back to Catalina Island.

The views were incredible, hands down some of the best, looking out over Avalon Harbor and Catalina Casino. Lucy, the hotel manager, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and appreciated, and the service was exceptional. Breakfast was so good, too. Daniel makes the best omelets on the island. What an amazing stay at Zane Grey Pueblo Hotel on Santa Catalina Island. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Catalina Island.

The only thing we wished for was another mirror in the room. The one mirror was above the bathroom sink, which wasn’t ideal for two girls getting ready for the Avalon Ball. Our room was clean, though a little small, and the bathroom was clean with toiletries provided. The Zane Gray Pueblo Hotel was quiet and the room felt private. Breakfast was included and had quite a range of options, including omelettes and French toast made to order. We had a fabulous stay and hope to come back next year. =^..^=
