The Lodging House Inn

In October 2020, my friend, my two kids, and I were stranded more than 500 miles from home when our car broke down a few miles from here. We had no money until the next day, but the people working here let us stay without paying up front and trusted us to pay later. I really appreciate their kindness. Thank you.

We were too late to make it to Kettleman City, so we paid $50 for a room and regretted it. The sheets were filthy, there was old body tissue in the bathtub, and the toilet only flushed if you took the lid off. The TV had no remote and barely showed four channels. There were roaches in the kitchen area, no light bulbs, and the carpet was disgusting. An old man walked into my room in the morning without knocking and wouldn't leave until I was screaming. The kid in the office was nice, though, and opened the room for the guys next door when they couldn't get in. They also wouldn't refund my $5 key deposit. This place is filthy and nasty, and clearly hasn't had even ten cents spent on upkeep. It should be shut down. I'm calling the City of Avenal and the county health dept.

There’s a small kitchen with stainless steel counters and a sink, plus a big closet for storing food and drinks. The bed area is separated from the living room by a wall, and the toilet and shower have their own separate space from the sink, so you don't have to deal with your partner's or roommate's stink bombs, lol. The rooms are HUGE, with lots of space in the living room, a vanity, and an office desk. It's a very old Lodge House, and some of the original furniture is still in the rooms.

After a six-hour drive, I didn't have the energy to argue, so I took the $55 refund and drove to kettleman city. I had paid $100 for two nights, then asked for my money back less than 20 minutes after handing it over. I was visiting my husband at the ASP for the weekend, and regretted paying as soon as I reached the room's outside door. The doorknob was like one on a house door, held in place by plywood. There was blood on the sheets, dead roaches on the floor, no TV channels, no phone, and no hot water. I have never stayed in a motel like this, and everything I wrote is 100% true.
